As Mayor of the City of Madison, Alabama, I am pleased to invite you to come explore our community. Whether you are returning home to the Deep South or discovering its charms for the first time, I know you will find our city a warm and inviting destination.

Here in Madison, we like to say that this is the place where “progress joins preservation.” In a city rich with history and character, our fond regard for days gone by is matched only by our enthusiasm for embracing positive change and new technologies. The City of Madison, once little more than a tiny farming community alongside the Norfolk-Southern railway, has grown into a cosmopolitan economic center for western Madison County, the focal point of North Alabama’s technology boom.

With an average of 600 new homes and 1,700 new residents each year, Madison’s biggest challenge is meeting the needs of its growing population while maintaining the high quality of life that attracts many new residents to our city. To address that challenge, we are:

• Encouraging residents to Shop Madison First to bring more sales tax dollars home
• Implementing a Capital Improvement Plan to build and repair essential infrastructure
• Developing greenways, trails, and sidewalks to provide safer enjoyment of the outdoors
• Building on current economic development initiatives to attract new businesses to our city
• Adopting policies and procedures to ensure quality developments that pay for themselves
